WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY

HIGHLIGHTS

Undergraduate Medical, Nursing education, fellowship, and Short term training

The department has celebrated World Immunology Day on 29th April 2015. The department has also facilitated the conduct of Continuing Medical Education under the aegis of Indian Immunology Society. It helped in providing research training to personnel through summer training programme and research project facilities. Faculty members have delivered guest and invited lectures in National meetings. The senior and junior residents have participated several workshops, poster and oral presentations in National meetings around the country. Under graduate medical student(s) credited Short Term Studentship (STS) award from Indian Council of Medical Research by performing upscale research work in the Department of Biochemistry. The faculties have been engaged in research with grants from intra and extramural sources and have successfully published their work in high impact peer reviewed journals. The faculty of the department has been enlisted in editorial board member, project review committee of sponsoring agencies like DBT, ICMR and BIRAC at National level and in the books of international repute. Service in the form of patient care by conducting diagnostic special tests, tumour marker detection and counselling of medical disorders detected out of those tests are most prominent ones among other activities provided by the department.

The department is also managing the clincial laboratory.

Innovative Education Activity

Problem based teaching, demonstration by animated module and use of modern molecular techniques in practical curriculum of biochemistry are the prime teaching aids used to make a prospective and innovated teachinglearning process in the department. After each series of lectures on a given topic, a tutorial class with question-answer interactions between students and concerned faculty associated with SRs and JRs was being held by the department as a routine protocol to solicit feedback of successful teaching on the subject.
